Boomswitch is still ON and Merry Christmas

WOW - what an amazing December! I'm doing fine on 888 Poker as you can see below:

Check out my stats here: Sharkscope stats

Yes, I'm fine and I'm playing the $5 buy-in $250 Guaranteed Heads Up MTTs on 888 Poker almost every day.

I am not yet ready to sum up this year's happenings but there were many things going on.

Even tough I'm going to write about 2010 later, I already have plans for 2011:
  • to work out & to be healthy (going to track it on this site: http://runtastic.com/)
  • to play poker & to be wealthy (lol joke) - want to make enough money to move up a few stakes/levels
  • to be a good affiliate - referring people to some poker sites and to PokerSpace
  • to teach poker - Thoughts of a donk
I might have missed a few things but I'll add them if they come to my mind.

I'm trying to qualify for the Heads Up cash battle vs Isildur1 on PokerStars. The Heads Up MTT qualifiers are running every day on PokerStars - $11 buy-in, 1st place gets a ticket to the weekly qualifier. It's like a normal Heads Up tournament with an added 1st place prize.

Christmas was great! Now I understand what's Christmas is all about and I'm very happy I could spend it with my family. I hope you enjoyed your time with your beloved family members and friends too.
Happy Holidays!

Let's sum up how I was doing in the previous tourneys:

Monday: 2 x $20 buy-in $10,000 Guaranteed tournament

I didn't really feel confident in these tourneys but I was very excited. I tried to focus on the games. No TV, no music, nothing to bother me...

A little twist in the game:
  • finish ITM in the tournaments and you’ll get seats to the following week’s Monday Twins Challenge tournaments
  • make the final table in both Monday Twins Challenge tournaments on the same day and you’ll get seats to ALL of the following month’s $50,000 Sunday Challenge tournaments
  • win one tournament and make the final table in the other on the same day and you’ll get $1,000 cash!
  • win one tournament and come 2nd in the other on the same day and you’ll get $2,500 cash!
  • win both Monday Twins Challenge tournaments on the same day and you’ll get $10,000 cash!

I posted on Twitter that I lost 2 key hands:
  • AK vs KQ - all in on K Q x flop
  • 66 vs AQ - all in preflop Q hit the flop
Tuesday: $100 buy-in $12,500 Guaranteed tournament

Pretty high buy-in for me - well I played a $215 Razz tourney a year ago lol. So, I wasn't too comfortable at this stake but I had good feelings though. But this hand happened: I re-raised on flop, I moved in on the turn and he hit.

Wednesday: $25 buy-in $10,000 Guaranteed tournament
It was okay, I had to push with KJ on the button with 10 Big Blinds. Small Blind called me with A10. Unfortunately, I didn't hit.

Thursday: $12 buy-in $12,500 Guaranteed tournament
I played good in this tourney, I felt really confident. I made it through a few breaks but my all in with QQ wasn't enough versus AA versus AQ. I tried to make a play on the guy who had AQ which was okay.. but didn't expect anyone to wake up with that big hand.

Friday: $30 buy-in $15,000 Guaranteed tournament
This is the next tournament I'm going to play. I hope the remaining tournaments will be good for me.

Upcoming tournaments:
Saturday: $50 buy-in $25,000 Guaranteed tournament
Sunday: $75 buy-in $50,000 Guaranteed tournament

Interesting hands from the tournaments mentioned above:

888 Poker $300 Guaranteed Super Turbo tournament WIN

Hello everyone,

Finally, I won a smallish tournament - the $300 Guaranteed Super Turbo tournament. The buy-in was $3 and the starting stack was 500 chips with 10/20 blinds.

It was a really cool tourney. I didn't think about the money. I was just playing as good as I could.

It was a much needed win. Good for my confidence and it was a nice experience too.

It has finally arrived! The only web based online poker client which works on your iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.

Three-years in the making, Switchpoker.com allows online poker players to play real money poker on their iPads, iPods, and iPhones.

The site is web-based, allowing players to simply sign up for an account and start playing and the first 250 players who register for an account using the bonus code 10free4me will receive €10 in chips free without having to make a deposit.

Switchpoker.com works on iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch utilising web browsers such as Internet Explorer 8, Internet Explorer 9, Firefox, Chrome, Safari or Opera.

Conor McCarthy, co-founder of Switchpoker.com, said “As online poker players we were greatly frustrated by our inability to play real money poker using our Apple mobile devices. The solution proved deceptively simple – why not develop our own site compatible with Apple devices but not beholden to them.

“After a period of intense development Switchpoker.com is here and it offers the world’s first real money poker games for the iPhone & iPad. We’re thrilled to be setting the pace and look forward to making our site the gold standard of mobile poker.”

PokerStars news in October

Estonian Licence
PokerStars has been granted a licence for online poker in Estonia. Real money play is now available at www.PokerStars.ee.

Due to legal requirements, PokerStars will be required to pay tax on revenue
(rake & tournament fees) generated under the Estonian License. Tax will be
calculated on a monthly basis and is estimated to be around 5% of Gross
Revenue.

All Estonian registered players will need to migrate their accounts from
PokerStars.com to PokerStars.ee. They must be over 21 years old to use PokerStars'
Estonian poker client.

Important VIP Program changes
PokerStars would like to announce two changes to VIP Club Rewards effective
October 1st.

Effective October 1st, VIP Reward Bonuses purchased from the VIP Store will
instantly reward players with cash. In the past, players had to earn VPPs
equal to 7 times the dollar amount of the bonus prior to the reward being
credited to their account. This requirement will be removed.

Also, starting October 1st, NL and PL ring games at limits up to and
including $0.05/$0.10 will earn VPPs at rates faster than other stakes. The
new rates will last at least through December 31st, 2010.

$0.01/$0.02: 12X
$0.02/$0.05: 10X
$0.05/$0.10: 8X

These rates will be reflected at new tables created as of October 1st. Older
tables awarding the previous VPP rates may still exist until the next server
restart. Note that the 10X multiplier from the MicroMania promotion in July
was continued unannounced and is still in effect, so the 'older' tables are
awarding 10X VPPs.

NL/PL ring games at other stakes will continue to award VPPs as normal. All
Fixed Limit games, including stakes that have been awarding 10X since July,
will also award VPPs at normal rates. Some older Fixed Limit tables up to

Thank you very much for visiting this blog.

I created this post in order to introduce ' ELTE Póker Klub'. Me and a few friends of mine established a poker club for students (in Hungary) to play for fun. More and more people attended in those games and we couldn't hold these games in our house anymore. After that we wanted to find a better place for such activities and due to the amount of people, we decided to move the community to online.

We named our club after Eötvös Lóránd University (which is the biggest university in Hungary).

The website is under construction - we're going to provide poker news, articles and videos to keep our players informed + discuss strategies on the forum.

See you in Budapest!

It's been a while... What's happened since my last blog post?

  • won a $215 WCOOP ticket on PokerStars
  • changed my lifestyle
Here are a few Facebook groups which worth to mention:

I'm going to play the $215 Heads Up Event in the 2011 WCOOP :) 1 more year lol - at least I have some time to practice ;)

I used to play a lot more but I'm trying to focus on the university. Poker has already helped me in many things and I hope that our relationship will be prosperous in the future as well.

The final table was very hard... many players lost their chips early and weren't patient enough. The remaining players were playing good but I managed to win a decent amount. I tried to maintain my stack by stealing a few pots with nothing and it was effective until the heads up.

The heads up was like a rollercoaster. I lost my chipleads and became a 2:1 underdog but I took back the lead... After that I lost a big pot and became short stacked. I won like 3 hands in a row that allowed me to play loose and agressive. That strategy helped me to win the tournament and take down the first prize.
